Overview We are seeking a Battery Pack Test Engineer to execute a range of battery pack development and validation tests in support of a growing Electric Vehicle portfolio. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a world-class battery laboratory operating at full capacity. Initially, the Battery Pack Test Engineer will be required to complete all mandatory training and adhere to laboratory safety protocols. Following the successful completion of the required training, the role will transition to the execution of tests, with a key emphasis on obtaining the highest quality data in the most efficient manner. The Battery Pack Test Engineer will collaborate with laboratory technicians throughout the testing process, including test preparation, setup, execution, and post-test battery handling. This role will also be responsible for generating comprehensive test reports upon completion of testing, as well as interim reports to fulfill ongoing requests and address status updates. Key Responsibilities Attain proficiency in the utilization of battery pack test system hardware and software. Execute test scripts and generate reports using designated templates. Create and update standard operating procedures and work instructions that adhere to safety protocols and battery pack testing standards. Conduct day-to-day battery testing operations. Ensure all testing activities strictly follow laboratory safety protocols. Keep test requestors informed of ongoing test status. Implement best practices throughout testing and reporting activities. Ensure all test reports meet the highest quality standards. Deliver timely reports based on test results upon completion. Proactively identify and resolve test-related issues. Assist in root cause analysis and issue resolution identified during testing. Collaborate with schedulers to optimize test equipment utilization. Maintain compliance with all required training. Escalate issues to management when necessary. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 3 years of laboratory or engineering experience. Practical proficiency with common laboratory tools and instruments. Experience configuring, maintaining, and overseeing tests according to established test procedures. Competence in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing test data. Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Legal eligibility to work in Canada. Preferred Qualifications Master of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience with AVL PUMA or similar battery testing systems. Experience with CAN tools such as Vector CANalyzer. Proficiency with calibration and analysis tools such as ETAS INCA. Experience with EV battery pack diagnosis, root cause analysis, and teardown. Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data processing. Experience executing DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) test plans. Knowledge of ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 laboratory accreditation standards. The expected base salary range for this position is $35 – $41 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.
