Founded in 1954, Community Living Central York is a non-profit, charitable organization which provides support to people who have an intellectual disability. The organization is under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of people who receive support, family members and other members of the community. In 2024, Community Living Central York was the recipient of the Not-For-Profit of the year at the Central York Chamber of Commerce Business Award, Community Leadership Award and the (ODEN) Disability Employment Service Award for Outstanding Employment Service Provider. SUMMARY STATEMENT: To support people who have an intellectual disability to achieve their personal goals and facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote people’s effective participation in the typical and valued life of the community POSITION: SUPPORT WORKER PART TIME POSITION REPORTING TO: Community Living Supports Manager HOURS: Part Time Hours - Days, Evenings, Overnights, Weekends and Holidays HOURLY RATE: $19.10 - $23.49 QUALIFICATIONS: DSW or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of two years experience working with people who have an intellectual disability Ability to support behavioral needs and protocols Ability to support complex medical needs i.e. G-tube and tracheotomy care Previous experience supporting people who have mental health issues and dealing with high anxiety situations Solid understanding of the principals of CPI and experience with verbal de-escalation Ability to work independently and as a team member Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Current First Aid, CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificates Training in dispensing medications Valid G driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months) Community Living Central York is an equal opportunity employer which welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.

Requires a DSW or equivalent qualification with at least two years of experience in the field. Must hold valid First Aid, CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention certifications, and a G driver's license.
