Division: Global News BC Work Status: Full-Time, Temporary Contract (Oct 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027 – with possible extension) Location: Victoria, BC (Onsite) About the Role: Global BC is looking for a, FT Video Journalist to join the #1 newsroom in Western Canada. Reporting to the Managing Editor, this position will be based in Victoria. Duties will include Reporting, shooting and editing as assigned. The role also requires working within the B.C. Legislature. This is a Group 5 position under the current collective agreement. You will contribute by: The following is an outline of some but not all of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position: Shooting, editing, and reporting on a wide range of stories, from breaking news to features. Executing strong proficiency in story judgment, writing, shooting and editing. Ability to monitor other news sources, as well as come up with original material for Global News, BC1, and Online. Presenting live on a variety of platforms including on-air, webcam and live blogs. Driving a considerable amount, including long distances. Handling the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines. Physically able to carry camera gear and walk long distances as required. Other duties as required. Skills and experience you will bring: Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalist or a related field from a recognized institution. Minimum of five years’ TV reporting, shooting and editing in a medium/large television market. Working knowledge of how major news organizations employ a wide range of digital platforms and formats. Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a proven ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Proven strong news judgment and editorial experience. Demonstrated ability to report live in breaking news situations. Comprehensive computer knowledge, including that of leading-edge newsroom management systems (i.e. ENPS), and editing programs. Strong news writing skills and solid research abilities. Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows, as well as learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation. Demonstrated ENG shooting and editing skills. Ability to write/produce web, text and manage content through social media. Experience in updating online and broadcast content with a content management system, an asset.
