Job Description As part of the Transportation and Utilities service area, the incumbent manages the County’s bridge infrastructure program and is accountable for maintaining a network of 253 bridge files. The position plans, schedules, and coordinates inspections, maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement, and emergency repair work to ensure bridge infrastructure is managed in a safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective manner. Job Duties and Responsibilities: The primary function of this position is to deliver the County’s bridge infrastructure program through sound project management, technical review, and contract administration. Responsibilities include maintaining bridge file records, coordinating inspections and condition assessments, developing project priorities and schedules, preparing scopes of work, supporting procurement and tendering processes, reviewing consultant recommendations, and managing work delivered by Engineering Consultants and Contractors. The position responds to urgent and emerging bridge infrastructure issues, including motor vehicle collisions, flooding, washouts, structural deficiencies, or other incidents that may affect public safety or infrastructure integrity. The role coordinates timely assessment, mitigation, communication, and repair activities with internal departments, external agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders as required. Qualifications Trade Certification, Technical diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership in, or eligibility for membership with, the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET), the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or a comparable professional designation would be considered an asset. Minimum five years of related experience in municipal, transportation, or infrastructure project delivery, with demonstrated experience in bridge maintenance, bridge construction, inspections, rehabilitation, replacement, project management, tendering, and contract administration. Experience working with Engineering Consultants, Contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to deliver bridge or transportation infrastructure projects is required. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driver’s abstract. Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills.
