Your future starts here. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As a Diesel Service Attendant, you play a vital role in keeping our locomotives moving. You’ll fuel, clean, test, and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment that meets strict regulatory standards. This position is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoy working outdoors as part of a team that keeps rail operations running smoothly. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Refuel and sand locomotives while ensuring cab amenities are stocked for crew comfort Inspect and perform basic repairs on locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment to maintain operational reliability Assess parts for reuse or replacement, supporting cost-effective maintenance practices. Clean and service locomotive cabs, including walls, floors, windows, and toilets, to uphold safety and hygiene standards Test cab electrical systems and safety devices, set up cab brakes per operational requirements, and complete all crew-to-crew documentation Perform additional duties as outlined in the collective agreement POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general equivalency Valid driver’s license Minimum 1 year experience working around heavy equipment Commercial driver’s license preferred Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions Ability to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English Proven dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines/rules WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee Share Purchase Plan Annual Fitness Subsidy Part-time Studies Program PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
