PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As General Roadmaster, you will coordinate the safe, cost-effective and timely planning and execution of the production capital plan on the region, mentor and provide oversight to the ongoing development of the management staff to ensure compliance with corporate policy and regulatory/engineering standards. Additionally, you will manage all aspects of staffing requirements for Production within the region. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Provides for the execution of safe work plans ensuring appropriate tools, training, and resources are available to production crews Mentor and provide technical guidance to craft employees, supporting their skill advancement and strengthening overall team performance Lead and manage unionized staff in accordance with the Collective Agreement, facilitating resolutions for corrective actions, disputes, and grievances to uphold positive labor relations Ensure the successful execution of annual and multi-year capital planning objectives, optimizing resource utilization and project outcomes Advance initiatives focused on regulatory compliance, service excellence, and sustainability of financial results Maintain CPKC’s full compliance with Transport Canada regulatory protocols, safeguarding standards of safety and operational integrity POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general equivalency Valid driver’s license Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, including two or more years directing teams or complex projects centered on track renewal and maintenance, or an equivalent mix of education and experience Well-versed in railway track safety regulations and standards Proficient in interpreting and implementing the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement within daily operations Provide emergency response support as part of an on-call rotation, typically every other week, to help maintain continuous 24/7 operations WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Performance incentive plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required. Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
