The Senior Production Manager is accountable for all production areas at the manufacturing site, providing strong leadership and decision-making skills, project management skills, and technical knowledge. The Senior Production Manager is accountable for leading the Production teams to ensure ongoing compliance to producing quality products consistently while maintaining conformance to company and regulatory agencies' expectations and requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the production team in the execution of the company’s business goals, including launching new products and processes, identifying and implementing large-scale automation initiatives and supporting the growth and development of the next level of production leaders. This role reports to the Vice-President, Operations. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, forward- thinking and in search of a challenge to take their career to the next level. This position is based out of the Stayner, ON manufacturing facility. What you’ll be doing: Manage, coach, mentor and support a diverse group of over 300 employees, including direct labour, team leaders and supervisor on two shifts, in a complex and ever-changing cannabis market Act as a change agent on the production floor, leading initiatives to achieve operational excellence across each shift Ensure daily adherence to production schedules while maintaining compliance with quality, regulatory, and internal control requirements, recommending improvements to control structures as needed Drive implementation of new processes/capabilities in support of strategic growth plans and operational efficiency targets Collaborate with materials, quality, scheduling, maintenance and engineering to identify opportunities for improvement with emphasis on cost control, cycle time and down time reduction. Support the annual business planning cycle, identifying key priorities and projects for the production team Identify, implement and track critical KPIs to support problem solving and decision making within the production department Responsible for managing and developing supervisors and team leaders in production, supporting team member development and future leader identification and maturation for long-term success Support the creation and implementation of a robust and effective training program on the production floor, with the objective of improving new hire retention and reducing turnover Collaborate with Quality and Compliance to streamline Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions to improve training consistency and eliminate duplication and non-value-added work. Manage team performance by setting clear goals, providing coaching, mentoring and reviews, and holding employees accountable to performance standards; apply progressive discipline as needed to ensure fair, consistent application of rules across the production floor Lead investigations related to production deviations and customer complaints to identify true root cause and ensure proper countermeasures are implemented and maintained Champion production requirements during new product launches and renovations; engage the production team in changes that affect their daily work and solicit feedback from the production teams to continuously drive improvements Implement, maintain and innovate 5S initiatives on the production floor, including training of production team members and engagement of the front-line leadership team Ensures that potential safety problems are resolved and that Safety audits are responded to appropriately and in timely fashion. Hold monthly team meetings with all production team leaders and supervisors, to communicate critical information and drive a culture of collaboration and support Manage departmental budgets for labour and overhead spending; participate in monthly finance reviews and annual budgeting processes Performs other job duties as assigned. You’ll need to have: 10+ years of experience in high volume, medium complexity manufacturing environments 5+ years of experience in a manager or above leadership role, with responsibility for multiple supervisors and team leaders, or teams of more than 100 people Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations or a similar discipline A self-starter with a strong work ethic and an energetic style; sets an example and creates an environment of high expectations and high performance, with a focus on accountability at all levels A confident, hands-on individual who is comfortable guiding a large department through change Lean manufacturing experience, with a demonstrated history of identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to develop employees through regular performance reviews, feedback, and effective recognition, while holding self and others accountable Strong analytical and problem-solving skills SAP experience is an asset Salary range: $140,000 $155,000 (Stayner, Ontario*) per year The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, applicable market data, internal equity, and business needs, and may vary within the stated range. This role may be eligible for bonus, incentive compensation, or other variable pay in accordance with applicable company plans."
