Landscape Construction Estimator – Civil & Municipal Location: Greater Hamilton Region Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year, based on experience Build Parks. Build Public Spaces. Build What’s Next. At CSL Group, we build more than landscapes. We build parks, pathways, streetscapes, pedestrian bridges, public spaces, and large-scale outdoor construction projects across Ontario. We are looking for an experienced Landscape Construction Estimator – Civil & Municipal to join our team. This is an estimating-first role. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of estimating experience who understands how outdoor construction projects are built and can confidently take a project from tender documents and drawings through detailed take-offs, pricing, and bid submission. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating landscape construction, civil site work, municipal projects, site development, parks, pathways, or similar outdoor construction projects. Experience with project coordination or project management is an asset, but strong estimating experience is essential. What You’ll Be Estimating Our projects combine landscape construction, civil site work, structures, site development, and public infrastructure. Projects may include: Parks and recreation facilities Trails and pathway systems Streetscapes and public spaces Pedestrian bridges and structures Site development and civil works Grading and drainage Concrete, curbs, sidewalks, and hardscape Retaining walls and site structures Municipal landscape construction Large-scale landscape construction and public realm projects What You’ll Be Doing Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contract requirements Complete detailed quantity take-offs Build accurate estimates for labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs Prepare competitive bids and tender submissions Use construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and site requirements to develop accurate pricing Obtain and coordinate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and opportunities Review project requirements for constructability and potential value engineering opportunities Work with operations and project management to ensure estimates reflect realistic construction methods Assist with pre-construction planning and project startup Provide a clear handoff from estimating to the project team Support the project team with estimating and scope questions following project award Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors Help improve estimating processes and best practices What We’re Looking For The most important requirement is proven estimating experience in landscape, civil, municipal, or other outdoor construction projects. We are looking for someone who understands how outdoor construction projects are built and can look at a set of drawings and specifications and determine what needs to be built, how it will be built, and what it will cost. 5+ years of estimating experience in landscape construction, civil site work, municipal construction, parks, pathways, site development, or similar outdoor construction Proven experience preparing competitive bids and tenders Strong ability to complete detailed quantity take-offs Strong understanding of labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and construction methods Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents Experience working with public-sector or municipal tenders is an asset Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines Comfortable working with suppliers, subcontractors, operations teams, project managers, and leadership Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Landscape Design, or a related fieldt (Equivalent industry experience will also be considered) Software Experience Strong experience with the following is important: PlanSwift Bluebeam Microsoft Excel Experience with HeavyBid or other estimating software is an asset, but strong experience with PlanSwift and Bluebeam is more important for this role. We are looking for someone who understands the practical side of construction and can take a project from plans and specifications to a complete, accurate estimate. This role is focused on outdoor construction projects. Candidates whose experience is primarily commercial buildings, residential construction, or interior construction will not be the focus for this position. Experience with project coordination or project management is an asset, but it does not replace estimating experience. Why Join CSL Group?
