JOB PURPOSE Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in the area of Manager, Advanced Engineering to support the development of high voltage motor and inverter technologies in support of Dana’s upcoming e-Propulsion platform hardware portfolio. This work involves developing key technologies to reduce cost, improve efficiency and performance, reduce packaging volume while simultaneously reducing implementation time to market. Potential candidates with a background and interest in the following fields are encouraged to apply. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead a team of engineers and subject matter experts from initial concept creation through proof of concept (PoC) testing to implementation of technology on Dana’s next e-Propulsion platforms • Interface with product planning, sales, purchasing and engineering organizations to align on technology roadmap • Provide final engineering approval amongst competing technology needs to concept down selection towards PoC development • Deep understanding of virtual and physical loadcases required to support all attribute targets of technologies explored • Manage virtual engineering needs and software in CAE and CFD supporting technology development • Manage smaller test bench assets and test articles to achieve key data validation on technologies • Plan and manage staff resources, capital and operational budgets needed to deliver technologies on-time • Contribute to site management and collaborate closely with other site managers for prototyping and test completion • Manage grants, subsidies, or other funds that support technology development projects regionally • Lead project timelines to ensure clear communication of deliverables to upper management • Manage activity of engineering service providers, component suppliers, etc. engaged to support development efforts • Manage relevant university and collaborative partner projects to ensure on-time completion towards Dana’s technology goals • Lead engineering team to follow Dana’s Technology Development Plan (TDP) cadence and reporting structure • Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data • Report semi-monthly to executive leadership on progress of technology development activities • Champion symposium sessions to share learnings to cross-functional teams • Attend and present at industry conferences on Dana’s behalf to showcase technology development • Manage IP and promote IP protection and generation within the team EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Requirements: • Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related discipline). • 10+ years experience in detailed design of high voltage electric traction motor and inverter components and sub-systems • 3+ years experience directly managing a team of engineers • 3+ years of program management experience balancing parallel, complex tasks • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams a plus • Strong understanding of inverter and motor components, electromagnetics, traction motor topologies • Ability to manage maturing projects while also supporting early concept ideas simultaneously • Working level knowledge of subsystem/component manufacturing/assembly methods • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues • Ability to adapt to change and pivot project selection, scope and timing as determined by business needs • Active relationships with universities, consortiums, or industry partners a plus • System level experience integrating technology components to realize system performance, efficiency gains a plus • Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is organized and able to accept multiple tasks and responsibilities • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner. • Excellent written verbal, presentation, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to engage with cross functional teams on a daily basis • Ability to work on-site a minimum of (4) days per week • Limited travel both domestically and internationally • Preference to communicate in both French and English languages SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
