The Environmental Manager will provide technical support to the Phoenix Team at the Wheeler River Operation as the project progresses through construction and into operation. The work will include leading a team of environmental technicians to meet monitoring and compliance obligations in line with the project’s permits and licences. The position will interface with onsite project team members across various disciplines, as well as with the environment and regulatory team in the Saskatoon office. This is a rotational, site-based role based in Northern Saskatchewan. Lead the Environmental Management Program’s governance and site environmental monitoring and compliance, including alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements and environmental performance objectives. Oversee regulatory reporting and risk management, including review of permits and engagement with regulators, inspections, and audit teams. Provide technical oversight and implementation of environmental monitoring programs. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of monitoring results within the environmental database as required for all permits and licences. Manage environmental incident reporting and investigations as outlined in Denison’s management system requirements and applicable provincial and federal legislation. Support environmental program planning and performance, including program design, resourcing, budgets, contractor scope, and integration of environmental risks into site planning and construction activities. Collaborate with the site Phoenix Construction Team to proactively identify and communicate compliance requirements. Support the development of quarterly and annual compliance reports for submission to federal and provincial regulators. You have a background in environmental monitoring and compliance within Canada’s mining industry and have strong leadership and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. You are a well-rounded candidate with a solid track record of success and overcoming challenges in your career. In addition, you have: Minimum of 10 years of progressive environmental experience in the mining industry, including either at least 3 years as an Environmental Manager or Environmental Superintendent. Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or an equivalent field (i.e., a technical diploma and more than 10 years of applicable experience). Experience working at remote, fly-in/fly-out mine sites. Understanding and demonstrated experience in the application of mining and environmental permit requirements in Canada with a preference for candidates with experience in uranium mining in Saskatchewan. Strong team leader with experience leading multidisciplinary teams. Highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a complex setting and prioritize competing demands and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills; strong attention to detail; and the ability to operate with a high degree of accuracy. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook). All applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
