Job title: Operational Data Analyst Location: Toronto, ON (4 days onsite) Duration: 18 Month Contract Description: Data Analysis & Reporting: • Analyze operational, onboarding, and regulatory datasets to identify trends, exceptions, risks, control gaps, and process improvement opportunities. • Perform data reconciliations, root cause analysis, and exception reporting. • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting using Power BI, Excel, and SharePoint, with appropriate data validation and documentation. • Support data governance and data quality initiatives through validation and monitoring activities. Regulatory & Remediation Support • Support regulatory initiatives and remediation programs through data analysis, impact assessments, documentation, and status tracking. • Support data mapping and help identify affected populations, account classifications, and regulatory reporting requirements under the guidance of subject-matter experts. • Produce analysis and documentation supporting regulatory readiness and audit requests. Business Analysis & Requirements Management • Support the gathering, documentation, and validation of business requirements for operational and technology initiatives. • Assist with process mapping, workflow documentation, current-state assessments, and future-state design. • Support stakeholder workshops and requirements discussions across business and technology teams. • Maintain requirements traceability and support testing activities for solution implementation. Process Improvement & Automation • Design and implement process improvement initiatives using Lean / OpEx methodologies. • Develop and maintain appropriately governed low-code/no-code solutions, such as Power Automate workflows, Power Apps, forms, and SharePoint-based tools, to reduce manual effort, errors, and operational risk. • Collaborate with Technology and business stakeholders to identify, assess, test, document, and support implementation of automation opportunities. • Assist with the implementation of technology to help streamline the front-to-back process. • Produce management reporting as required. Project & Governance Support • Maintain project trackers, risk logs, action-item inventories, and management reporting. • Coordinate stakeholder follow-ups, meeting materials, and project documentation including status updates. • Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and issue resolution activities. Knowledge: ▪ An undergraduate degree in a STEM or Finance related discipline. ▪ Interest in financial services and willingness to learn Capital Markets onboarding, AML/KYC, data governance, and the regulatory environment. Prior industry knowledge is not required. ▪ Working knowledge of trading products across Global Markets as well as Investment & Corporate Banking products. (nice to have) ▪ Working knowledge of the competitive marketplace, trends and regulations in the industry (nice to have) ▪ Working knowledge of relevant regulations including CIRO, FINRA, FATCA/CRS, Dodd-Frank, SEC Security-Based Swaps, Canadian Trade Reporting and NI 93-101 (nice to have) Technical Skills ▪ Strong Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, charts, and data cleaning; exposure to Power Query is preferred. VBA is an asset, not a requirement. ▪ Experience gained through coursework, internships, co-ops, capstone projects, or employment using Power BI or another data visualization tool. ▪ Foundational SQL and data analysis skills; exposure to Python or another analytics language is an asset. ▪ Exposure to MS 365 tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, Forms, or comparable low-code/no-code platforms. ▪ Exposure to process mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent. ▪ Ability to document analysis, logic, controls, and user instructions, and to present findings clearly.
