Software Engineer

Title: Software Engineer / Backend Developer Location: Waterloo or Toronto, ON Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days/week Contract: 6 months, possible extension Role Summary We are looking for experienced backend software developers to join its technology organization and help design, develop and support scalable, secure and reliable business applications. The developer will work closely with product owners, designers and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality applications and services using modern Java/Spring and microservices technologies. Responsibilities Design, develop, test and maintain Java-based backend applications Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices Work with Spring / Spring Boot Develop and maintain database-driven applications Write clean, maintainable and production-quality code Participate in code reviews Develop automated unit and integration tests Troubleshoot application defects and production issues Investigate performance and reliability problems Participate in CI/CD and Agile development processes Collaborate with product and engineering teams Support application deployment and operational activities Contribute to technical documentation Participate in architecture/design discussions Follow secure coding and engineering best practices Core Skills Must-have: Java Spring / Spring Boot REST APIs Microservices SQL / relational databases Cloud experience CI/CD Agile Unit/integration testing Nice-to-have: Kubernetes Docker Azure DevOps / DevSecOps Cloud-native application development Dexian is a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions with over 12,000 employees and 70 locations worldwide. Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based backend applications and RESTful microservices. Collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to ensure high-quality code and operational stability.

Requires strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and SQL with experience in cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure DevOps is considered an asset.
