The Position Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the primary duties of this position are to maintain the site’s mobile fleet and locomotive fleet in a safe and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Complete general maintenance repairs and service calls on all fuel-powered equipment at site – both within and outside the garage environment; Complete regular Preventative Maintenance Inspections; Identify parts and materials required for equipment repair from equipment manuals and parts list; Ensure equipment is functional and safe to operate; Provide failure analysis; Minor cutting and welding repairs as required; When appropriate, suggest substitutions or upgrades to reduce costs or increase service life. Skills And Qualifications A minimum of a Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician, Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Mechanic; Preference will be given to applications who have experience maintaining and repairing locomotives and other tracked equipment; A good understanding of diesel and gasoline fueled systems; A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanic in an industrial setting with experience in automotive and heavy equipment (eg. Loaders, graders, dump trucks, forklifts, dozers, etc.) Complete or have recently completed CAAT and DAT testing in a satisfactory manner; Alternative Fuel Technician license will be considered an asset. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience and a Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach, Automotive, or Heavy Equipment Technician. Experience with locomotives and tracked equipment is preferred, along with satisfactory CAAT and DAT testing.
