About The Opportunity The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Digital Communications and Public Engagement Advisor, based in Lake Country, BC on a one year term. Reporting to the Communications Lead, the Digital Communications and Public Engagement Advisor supports the Communications department in advancing the District’s communications and public engagement efforts, with a focus on digital communications, social media, content creation, and community engagement. The position also provides confidential communications support to the Communications Lead, CAO, and senior leadership team on sensitive corporate communications matters and initiatives. Your Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To Create engaging content for the District's website, social media channels, newsletters, advertising campaigns, and other communication platforms; Manage the District's social medial presence, including content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance tracking; Support public engagement initiatives through online engagement, surveys, community events, information sessions, and outreach activities; Provide communications advice and develop communication plans and material for District projects, programs, and initiatives; and Monitor and analyze communication and engagement metrics, support emergency communications, and assist senior leadership with sensitive and confidential communication matters. More About You To qualify for this role, you must have a diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline and a minimum of three years’ work experience, preferably in local government, the public sector, or another complex organization. IAP2 Canada training or equivalent is considered an asset. A valid BC Drivers License is also required. As our ideal candidate, you have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft 365, video editing, and website content management systems. You also have experience with Meta Business Suite and experience managing social media platforms. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to tactfully and professionally respond to internal and external inquiries. General knowledge of local government operations, governance, and election processes would be considered an asset.
