Economic Development Specialist - Temporary Full-Time (anticipated end date March 31, 2027) Are you passionate about building vibrant local economies and creating opportunities for businesses and communities to thrive? The District of Squamish is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organized Economic Development Specialist to support key initiatives that strengthen our local economy, foster innovation, and advance community prosperity. Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, the Economic Development Specialist plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of economic development projects and programs. This position supports project management, customer relationship management, research and analysis, communications, marketing, and department administration while contributing to the implementation of the District's Economic Development Sector Strategy. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate grant-funded economic development projects. Conduct economic and demographic research to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices. Analyze data and prepare statistical, sectoral, and economic reports. Develop recommendations that support sustainable economic growth and strategic decision-making. Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and industry partners. Draft and edit communications, reports, website content, and correspondence. What we’re looking for: You are a collaborative, analytical, and results-oriented professional who enjoys managing projects, building relationships, and supporting community growth. Our ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in a related discipline including project management and business relationship management; supplemented with 2 years’ experience in research, communications, and marketing and a degree in Commerce, Economic Development, Marketing, or Business Administration.
