Director Sales USA Jobs Sales Director U.S. Market Based in Ontario | U.S. Commercial Market Building Materials $170K Base + Bonus | Electric Vehicle or Mileage Reimbursement | RRSP + Benefits Our client, a leading North American building materials manufacturer, is looking for a Sales Director – U.S. Market to lead its U.S. sales organization and help shape the next phase of growth. Based in Ontario and reporting into senior leadership, this role will have full responsibility for an approximately $10M P&L and lead a team of four Sales Representatives across the United States. This is not a role for someone who simply maintains the status quo. We are looking for a player-coach who can anchor the team, bring structure and accountability, challenge existing approaches when necessary, and personally step into the market when there is an opportunity to make an impact. The business is heavily focused on the ICI/commercial construction market, with a smaller residential component. Success requires someone who understands how building products are specified, sold and ultimately installed. The Role You will have full ownership of the U.S. sales strategy, performance and P&L, while remaining closely connected to customers and the market. You will lead, coach and hold accountable a geographically dispersed sales team while also supporting them in the field on strategic opportunities. This includes working closely with contractors, installers, specifiers and other key industry stakeholders, supporting education and product presentations, and helping close significant accounts and projects. We are looking for someone who gathers information before making decisions. Someone who understands how to use market intelligence, data, KPIs and competitive analytics to identify opportunities, solve problems and determine where the business should focus next. This individual will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the company, not simply execute an existing sales plan. Key Responsibilities Own and manage an approximately $10M U.S. P&L, with accountability for revenue, profitability, growth and overall performance Lead, coach and develop a team of 4 Sales Representatives across the United States Establish clear KPIs, expectations and accountability across the sales organization Act as a true player-coach, supporting the team in the field and becoming directly involved in strategic accounts and major opportunities Develop and execute the U.S. commercial sales strategy with a strong focus on the ICI market Drive specification-based sales and strengthen relationships with contractors, installers, specifiers and key accounts Support customer education, technical presentations and product positioning Help the sales team strategize and close large accounts and significant commercial opportunities Gather and analyze market data, competitive intelligence, customer feedback and sales performance metrics Translate market intelligence into clear, actionable commercial strategies Identify gaps, solve problems and proactively implement solutions rather than waiting for direction Bring structure and consistency to sales forecasting, pipeline management and performance measurement Communicate complex business or market issues in a clear, logical and simple way Work cross-functionally with leadership and internal teams to ensure the U.S. strategy aligns with broader company objectives Provide market insight that can help influence the company's commercial and strategic direction Travel approximately two weeks per month throughout the United States Who We’re Looking For Building materials experience is a must Proven sales leadership experience within the commercial/ICI construction market Experience leading and developing a geographically dispersed sales team Strong understanding of specification-driven sales and the contractor/installer channel Demonstrated P&L ownership and financial accountability A hands-on player-coach who is equally comfortable developing strategy and getting into the field with the team Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to use data, KPIs and market intelligence to make sound commercial decisions A natural problem solver who takes initiative and brings solutions Highly accountable, logical and disciplined in their approach Able to take complicated information and communicate it simply and effectively Ambitious, driven and comfortable challenging the status quo A strong team anchor who can create alignment, accountability and momentum A go-getter mentality with the confidence to pursue and close significant opportunities Based in Ontario and comfortable travelling extensively throughout the U.S. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: approximately $170,000 Performance-based bonus Electric company vehicle or paid mileage, depending on preference/program RRSP Comprehensive benefits Significant visibility with senior leadership Opportunity to have a direct impact on the company's U.S. growth strategy and future direction This is an opportunity for a commercial building materials leader who wants more than a traditional Sales Director position. If you enjoy building teams, owning the numbers, solving problems, getting into the market and influencing where a business goes next, this is a role where you can make a measurable impact.
