Title: Part-time Cheer Coordinator (monthly stipend) - 999088 Position Number: 999088 Unit/Department: Cheerleaders/Band Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Department Summary: Drake University's Athletics Department competes in the Missouri Valley Conference at the NCAA Division I level. Bulldog student-athletes thrive in the classroom and their respective field of play. Drake Athletics sport programs are considered Des Moines’ Hometown Team. Job Summary: Drake University is seeking applicants for a cheer coordinator. The successful candidate will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. • Ability to build rapport with students, coaches, and staff. • Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching. • Ability to complete work within deadlines under little guidance. • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required. • Knowledge and basic proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel • Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations. • Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred. • Master’s degree preferred. • Coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred. Job Duties: Drake University, a Division I institution competing in the Missouri Valley Conference, seeks a cheer coordinator. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: * 60% - Coaching and development of student-athletes - (Essential) * 20% - Organize and execution of all practice sessions and meetings - (Essential) * 10% - Develop a yearly fundraising plan to enhance the experience of team members - (Essential) * 10% - Lead recruitment of student-athletes - (Essential) * % - Performs other duties as assigned - (Essential) * % - All of the duties described above require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, Pioneer Football League, Metro Conference and Drake University. - (Essential) Special Instructions to Applicants: Applicants will be asked to complete the online application through Drake's job board and provide: a resume/cv, a cover, and contact information for three references.
