This is an outreach role. Your job is to find companies that should be buying precision die cast components from us, get in front of the right people, and create new opportunities for our sales team. About The Role The BDS is the first point of contact for many of our future customers. You will prospect into engineers, buyers, sourcing specialists, and procurement leaders across the Peterborough territory, qualify what you find, and set up meetings, design reviews, and plant tours for our Business Development Managers (BDMs). This role works hand in hand with the BDM team. Roughly half your time is territory prospecting into new logos, and half is executing specific account plays with a BDM: mapping the account, finding the right contacts, and getting the meeting booked. Expect to spend most of your day on the phone, on email, and on LinkedIn. This is a high-activity role and the expectations are measured. The BDS reports to the Sales Manager, Peterborough, and will be paired with our senior BDS during onboarding and ramp. LOCATION AND TRAVEL: This is a remote position. Candidates must reside within the Peterborough sales territory, preferably Ontario and within driving distance to Peterborough. A valid passport and the ability to travel freely between the United States and Canada are required. Travel is 10–15%, primarily for customer visits, trade shows, and time at the Peterborough plant. New hires spend their first week onsite in Peterborough and return quarterly. Key Responsibilities Prospect every day. Consistent outbound activity by phone, email, and LinkedIn into target accounts across the territory. Build and maintain target account and contact lists. Research companies, products, and programs to identify where die casting fits and who owns buying decisions. Execute named account plays with the BDM team: map the organization, identify decision makers and influencers, sequence outreach, and book the meeting. Qualify opportunities early. Understand part geometry, alloy selection, annual volume, tooling timing, secondary operations, surface finish, and the customer's decision process. Set qualified meetings, design reviews, lunch and learns, and plant tours for BDMs and applications engineering. Work inbound leads, trade show lists, and campaign responses quickly. Qualify or disqualify, and hand off clean. Reopen dormant, lost, and quoted-but-never-won accounts. Keep Salesforce current. Log every touch, contact, and opportunity, and report weekly on activity and results. Build real knowledge of die casting, secondary operations, and tooling economics so you can hold a credible conversation with a design engineer. Other duties as assigned. What Success Looks Like Activity and results are tracked weekly. Specific targets are set with your manager, including but not limited to: A consistent outbound number you hit every week. New decision-maker conversations opened each week in new accounts. Qualified meetings booked for the BDM team each month. New named accounts opened each quarter. New opportunities created in Salesforce, measured in count and dollar value. Education, Skills & Attributes Bachelor's degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 1–5 years of experience in B2B technical sales, lead generation, or business development, preferably in manufacturing or engineered components. A track record of consistent outbound prospecting. You are comfortable cold calling daily and you handle rejection well. Self-starter. This is a remote role with minimal supervision, so discipline and time management are critical. Strong communication skills. You can hold a technical conversation with an engineer and a commercial one with a buyer. Curious and analytical, with a desire to understand customer problems and turn them into opportunities. Experience using Salesforce, or a similar CRM, is required. Experience with ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and AI tools for research and outreach is a plus. Comfortable engaging engineers, buyers, and director level stakeholders across multiple industries. Valid passport and the ability to travel between the United States and Canada. French fluency is a plus. Dynacast Ltd. is committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Should any applicant require accommodation through the recruitment and selection process, please inform Human Resources in your application. We thank all applicants for their interest in the role, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
