Field Safety Full-time | Year-Round | Blackfalds, AB Position Summary This is not a desk-based safety role. Field safety at Eagle Builders means being present on active job sites, building trust with crews, and holding a clear, consistent standard. We’re looking for a practical, proactive safety professional who can support projects across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. You will work closely with site representatives, operations, employees, and sub-trades to make safety expectations understood and followed. Success in this role comes from showing up, speaking up, and following through. You must be comfortable travelling frequently, adapting to changing site conditions, and addressing concerns directly while maintaining strong working relationships. What You’ll Do Build strong, day-to-day relationships with field crews, site representatives, project managers, and sub-trades Be present on active jobsites, observing work, coaching in real time, and reinforcing safe practices Implement and support site safety programs for Eagle Builders crews and subcontractors Lead practical safety meetings, orientations, and train for employees and sub-trades Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and follow-up until concerns are effectively resolved Investigate incidents, first aid events, and near misses, then recommend meaningful corrective actions Review safety manuals and develop safe job procedures and safe work practices for critical tasks Coordinate safety requirements through project startup, construction phases, and project closeout Maintain safety documentation, statistics, trends, SDS binders, and prime contractor packages Prequalify subcontractors and verify current WCB clearance and valid insurance certificates Confirm emergency equipment, first aid supplies, vehicles, job boxes, and sea-cans are properly stocked Interpret and apply company policies, occupational health and safety legislation, and project requirements What We Are Looking For Relationship builder – earns trust with crews, supervisors, and sub-trades Confident and direct – addresses unsafe work clearly without creating unnecessary resistance Present and engaged – works along field teams rather than managing safety from a distance Practical problem solver – turns safety requirements into workable solutions for active sites Organized and accountable – keeps documentation current and follows concerns through to resolution Adaptable traveler – stays effective as projects, locations, and priorities change Requirements Successful interview candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment assessment NCSO designation completed or currently in progress Valid Class 5 driver’s license and acceptable driving abstract Available to work a minimum of 44 hours per week, including overtime and occasional Saturdays Reliable and available to work away from home during the week Valid Standard First Aid & CPR, WHMIS Train-the Trainers, Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform certifications Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, WHMIS, WCB requirements, and related standards Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations Experience writing professional reports, procedures, or health and safety policies Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal English communication skills Outstanding organization skills wit the ability to manage details and multiple priorities Able to build and maintain effective working relationships in a fast-paced environment Committed to following and reinforcing company safety policies and procedures Local to Central Alberta or willing to relocate Assets General construction knowledge or field experience Knowledge of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba safety requirements Experience supporting prime contractor responsibilities and subcontractor prequalification WHMIS training delivery experience Experience using SiteDocs or comparable safety management software Experience reviewing safety data to identify recurring risks and trends What Eagle Builders Offers Competitive wages based on experience, with regular evaluations 6% vacation pay, health coverage, and wellness support Sundays off and a culture that values time with family Clothing program, meal program, fuel discounts, and employee events Clear training roadmaps and opportunities for growth This role isn't about watching safety from the sidelines - it's about being present in the field, earning trust, and helping every crew go home safe.
