This role directly contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, accurate, and professional maintenance and repair services, while maintaining compliance with all East Penn and client site safety and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform daily in-territory travel to customer locations to carry out battery and charger inspections, execute maintenance tasks, and prepare detailed service reports for a wide range of East Penn Canada’s industrial clients Conduct a variety of tests and inspections on material handling equipment batteries to determine overall battery health and maintenance requirements Perform various preventative maintenance tasks on batteries, including washing, acid neutralization, and watering, as required Complete minor repairs on battery cables, connectors, watering systems, and accessories, as required Recommend follow-up repairs and part replacements as appropriate, and communicate all inspection results to the customer’s main point of contact Participate in occasional in-shop activities, such as conducting pre-delivery product inspections and installing battery monitoring devices, status indicator lights, and other similar accessories Install, test, repair, and maintain battery watering systems Change de-ionizer filters and prepare scrap batteries for transportation Maintain daily logs of service activities, client visits, time tracking, and inspection results Identify opportunities for upselling/cross‑selling based on service findings and communicate these to customer points of contact Maintain service vehicle based on company standards, and regularly monitor stock levels for parts, tools, and equipment Develop strong business relationships with customer base and act as a trusted technical advisor Participate in the development of service programs within the assigned territory Experience & Qualifications All East Penn Canada Field Service Technicians receive full battery and charger training, but a strong foundation and background in the following will set you up for success: Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude (preference given to those with electrical or mechanical technician experience or education) 3+ years’ experience in a technical service-related role, preferably in the field Extremely strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking) with the confidence and ability to provide clear product information to customers Excellent technical problem solving and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills Exceptional customer service focus, strong desire to create positive customer experiences, and ability to build lasting professional partnerships with customer contacts Experience identifying sales opportunities (upselling/cross-selling) and comfort speaking to how upgraded systems would support business output for the customer would be beneficial Forklift experience and exposure to transportation of dangerous goods are strong assets Additional Considerations As this role requires regular use of a company service vehicle, the incumbent must hold a Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract Pre-employment background checks are a condition of employment for all East Penn Canada employees and may include, but are not limited to, criminal record checks, professional reference checks, and driver’s abstracts Join a team within the battery industry that values your contributions and invests in your long-term success.
