ECG Engineering provides specialist electrical engineering design and project delivery services to the mining, utilities, materials handling and industrial sectors. With offices across Canada, Australia, the Philippines and Africa, our teams deliver complex projects from early studies and detailed design through to construction, commissioning and handover. We are looking for an experienced Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Toronto or Vancouver team and provide technical leadership across mineral-processing and industrial projects. The opportunity You will lead and coordinate the instrumentation and control systems scope across studies, detailed design, project execution and commissioning. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to technically complex greenfield and brownfield projects in Canada and internationally. You will also collaborate with ECG teams in Perth, Brisbane and Manila. This is an office-based position located in Mississaugua. What you’ll do Lead the instrumentation and control systems scope across studies and project delivery. Plan, coordinate and review I&C engineering activities and deliverables. Develop and review control systems designs, technical specifications, reports and project documentation. Contribute to the design, programming, integration and commissioning of PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA systems. Provide technical guidance to engineers and designers. Coordinate work across multidisciplinary and international project teams. Work directly with clients to understand operational requirements and develop practical technical solutions. Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, quality and compliance with project standards. Support the resolution of technical queries, design changes and site-related issues. Contribute to proposals, estimates, schedules and project planning activities. Support commissioning, operational readiness and ongoing plant requirements when required. Promote safe and reliable engineering practices throughout design and delivery. What you’ll bring A degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems or a related engineering discipline. Extensive instrumentation and control systems engineering experience. Previous experience delivering complex mining, mineral-processing, energy or heavy industrial projects. Experience working within an EPC or EPCM environment. Strong exposure to both greenfield and brownfield project development. Experience across studies, FEED, detailed design, project execution and commissioning. Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA systems. Experience with platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Emerson/GE and Yokogawa. Exposure to SCADA systems such as Citect or CIMPLICITY. The ability to review and produce clear technical documentation and reports. Experience leading technical discussions and coordinating engineers, designers and project stakeholders. Strong client-facing, communication and collaboration skills. Sound judgment and the ability to work independently on complex technical matters. An understanding of the practical challenges associated with remote and international mining operations. Why join ECG?
