Position Summary The Program Assistant provides administrative and program coordination support to the Community Services team, with a primary focus on the School Nutrition Program. This role supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of nutrition initiatives that provide healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to children and youth attending schools and out-of-school programs where nutrition support has been identified as a priority. Through strong organization and collaboration, the Program Assistant helps ensure the efficient delivery of services that promote student well-being and success. Key Responsibilities * Provide administrative support through office management, recordkeeping, payroll and financial processing, reporting, and the maintenance of program documentation and contact lists. * Coordinate program logistics by preparing materials, organizing supplies, supporting events, and ensuring resources are available for program delivery. * Build positive relationships with children, staff, volunteers, schools, and community partners while supporting effective communication and collaboration. * Assist with the planning and delivery of school and out-of-school nutrition programming, including attending program sites and supporting special initiatives and events. * Maintain program inventory and coordinate the distribution of materials and supplies to ensure the efficient operation of program sites. * Act as a positive role model for children and youth by fostering safe, respectful, and supportive environments that promote healthy relationships. * Report critical incidents, disclosures, and other concerns in accordance with organizational policies while supporting the overall quality and effectiveness of program operations. Qualifications Education * High School Diploma or equivalent * Post-secondary education in Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Communications, Education, or a related field is considered an asset. Certification * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle * Proof of vehicle insurance, registration and 3-year drivers abstract * Alberta Food Safety Basics Certificate and Food Handler Certificate must be obtained within two weeks of hire. * Standard First Aid and CPR is considered an asset Experience * 1+ year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience supporting school communities, children, and diverse populations, with knowledge of food security considered an asset. * Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills, preferably in a program delivery or non-profit environment. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively while building positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders. * Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, database applications, and other computer systems.
