Support Assistant – Pupil Referral Unit, Tyne Valley Start Date: After October Half Term | Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm Are you passionate about education and looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who need it most? Education World is seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate Support Assistant to join a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) team in the Tyne Valley. This is a fantastic full-time opportunity to work with students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health needs, behavioural challenges, or other barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities: Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and effective lessons tailored to individual student needs Provide 1:1 or small group support to students who require additional assistance Support students with SEN, SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs Assist with classroom and behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques Supervise students throughout the school day, ensuring their safety and wellbeing Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment Build positive, trusting relationships with students and encourage their engagement in education Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to meet student needs Requirements: A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their education Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated PRU team Resilience, patience, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviour Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable Experience with SEMH or behavioural needs is highly desirable A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject is desirable A current enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one) Why Work with Education World?
