Role Description The Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlottetown, PE, responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations on construction projects. This role coordinates site activities, supervises trades and subcontractors, monitors progress against schedules, and ensures work is executed safely, on time, and to quality standards. The Superintendent collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives, manages site documentation, and supports effective communication among all stakeholders. Daily responsibilities include enforcing health and safety policies, resolving site issues, conducting inspections, and supporting compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Strong site leadership and team coordination skills, with experience supervising trades, subcontractors, and field personnel. Proficiency in construction planning and scheduling, including reading drawings and specifications and aligning work with project timelines. Solid knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and industry standards, with a focus on quality control and risk management. Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices, including incident prevention and regulatory compliance. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, consultants, clients, and community stakeholders. Experience using construction management software and digital tools for documentation, reporting, and coordination. Several years of progressive field experience in commercial, institutional, or infrastructure construction; superintendent experience is an asset. Relevant post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work on-site full time in Charlottetown, PE, adapt to changing project needs, and support EllisDon’s values of inclusion, innovation, and integrity.
