Garden River First Nation, Lands and Resources Department has an obligation to its Citizens and Leadership to manage the lands and natural resources within the Garden River First Nation and its Traditional Territories. Its five key functions are: Community-based land use planning, Lands Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management, Compliance Management Please visit our website at Lands & Resources Department - Garden River First Nation to learn more. Garden River First Nation is looking for a Supervisor of our Lands and Resources Guardians team. They will manage programs, staff, and policies that protect, plan, and sustain Garden River First Nation (GRFN) traditional territory lands, waters, and natural resources and will oversee resource use compliance, direct multi-disciplinary teams, handle budgets, and negotiate resource and land-use. What You Will Do Responsible for project management Develop processes and risk assessment for projects Negotiate agreements with outside entities or partners, Develop, negotiate and process land lease agreements, sub-leases, permits, rights of way, additions to reserve proposals, allotments, transfers and other legal documentation Develop and implement community engagement sessions, information sessions, and attend meetings assigned Report non-compliance or collaboration concerns to the manager Preparation of annual budget and work plans Required Skills Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or related field GIS experience an asset Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental assessment, project management, or related fields Proven experience in managing teams and coordinating projects Familiarity with environmental assessment methodologies and regulatory frameworks Knowledge, understanding and experience of First Nation culture, values, and traditions Clear CPIC required as a condition of employment and valid Drivers License Able to work outdoors for extended periods and occasional travel How To Apply For a copy of the full job description please email [email protected] We thank all those who apply; however, only those applicants chosen for an interview will be contacted.
