Position Summary: Independence Apartments is a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) and a program of enCompass Community Safety Agency. Its primary focus is to assist adult males in successfully transitioning from federal institutions to responsible community living. Independence Apartments provides community supervision of clients while at the same time, providing one-to-one support for their transition into the community. As a Caseworker, you have the opportunity to promote pro-social and healthy lifestyles using various methods including but not limited to, ongoing monitoring/reporting of client behavior, assessing the risks and needs of clients, completing accurate referrals to treatment centres/community resources as required, and assisting clients in the development and implementation of SMART goals. Caseworkers are part of a Case Management Team which consists of a Parole Officer and where applicable, could include Edmonton Police Officers, RCMP and/or Program Facilitators. The Case Management Team's role is to support all aspects of client care with the goal of facilitating a successful transition into the community. Responsibilities: * Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Agency Policies and Procedures, using a client-centered, strength-based approach * Contribute to the management of high-risk, high-need client base by being a member of a multidisciplinary team; liaise with Parole Officers, Edmonton Police Service, and various other professionals * Attend monthly case conferences and unit meetings. Additionally, agency meetings, funder meetings, and staff trainings as required * Completion of accurate written documentation, data collection/entry, intakes, and assessments * Maintain a client caseload, which includes developing a Resident Action Plan, SMART goals, and Relapse Prevention Planning * Regularly meet with, observe, and document resident behaviour, progress or deterioration * Maintain file and supervision standards set by enCompass and Correctional Service Canada * Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and mentoring and others about the unit’s operations Program Security including regular security checks, room searches, and monitoring of security Qualifications / Skills: * Degree or Diploma in the human services field with related experience * Professional relationship-building skills * Ability to understand the dynamics of offenders' behaviour and assess their needs and risks * Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing * Ability to communicate effectively with a mental health population * Has a strong work ethic, high degree of integrity, and takes pride in their work * A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually Conditions of Employment: * This temporary position requires 24 hours of work per week, alternating weekly between the 6:45 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.–11:00 p.m. shifts. * The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting What we offer * The hourly wage range for this position is $21.22 to $26.22. * enCompass strives to provide a meaningful work environment through the following: * Strong focus on employee wellness and work-life balance * Service recognition and employee awards * Professional development opportunities * Staff team building and appreciation days * Competitive health, dental and RRSP benefits Please include how you heard about the position in the cover letter.
