Position Description The Lead Project Engineer will own technical integration between the design and delivery of Eneon BESS projects, aligning clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure multidisciplinary requirements become buildable BESS solutions. This is a high-ownership role requiring the ability to manage time-limited resources, challenging schedules, complex technical scopes, competing stakeholder priorities, and key external relationships without routine reliance on senior staff – serving as the authoritative technical voice to project stakeholders, as well as independently driving issues to closure when they arise. The role demands excellence as a cross-functional conduit: interpreting complex engineering information and translating it clearly for project, commercial, and executive audiences. Ultimately, this role ensures technical decisions remain practical, coordinated, and executable from early design through final project delivery. Key responsibilities include: Technical Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for all integrated equipment within the BESS across disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering. Maintain a holistic view of each project’s technical scope of work and operate as the primary technical liaison between cross-functional teams – particularly, engineering and project management teams. Maintain deep working knowledge of engineering concepts and designs in sufficient depth to safeguard design integrity through execution. Direct and provide technical oversight to vendors for all custom assemblies. Maintain thorough understanding of governing BESS specifications. Own evaluation of BESS to applicable standards, including design coordination, documentation, and management of NRTLs. Lead meetings to review Issued for Review/Issued for Final submittal packages with customers, driving resolution of open items. Negotiate technical warranty terms with major equipment suppliers to uphold Eneon’s commercial position, project requirements, and long-term delivery priorities. Project Serve as the primary technical point of contact for all project stakeholders (e.g., clients, vendors, internal teams, senior management), owning relationships across the project lifecycle. Professionally resolve competing priorities between Eneon and project stakeholders while safeguarding Eneon’s project, commercial, and delivery objectives. Own maintenance of the project schedule within scope, tracking milestones and dependencies, identifying risks to delivery, and coordinating mitigation with internal and external stakeholders. Manage project documentation (e.g., RFIs, change orders), tracking versions and submissions to ensure all parties are continually working from current information. Support project budget tracking, including monitoring costs, reviewing vendor invoices, and flagging variances or change-order impacts to the relevant Project Manager. Coordinate certification and testing activities, including test plan review, cross-functional input alignment, schedule and document management, and escalation of scope or configuration risks. Support project closeout activities, including turnover packages, warranty documentation, and lessons-learned capture. Chair project meetings as needed, including technical resolution meetings, client updates, and executive updates. Ensure vendor and procurement activities align with project goals, timelines, and requirements. Required Qualifications 5+ years of Project Engineering experience. An Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Power, or an equivalent field. Established technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, power, and industrial automation systems, including the ability to interpret corresponding documentation such as SLDs, schematics, specifications, and related technical drawings. Demonstrated ability to independently own and drive project outcomes with minimal oversight. Proven track record of resolving stakeholder conflicts and negotiating effectively with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. Excellent cross-functional communication with the proven ability to interpret complex technical information from engineering teams and convey it clearly to non-technical audiences. Prior project delivery experience working with applicable technology (e.g., energy storage devices, inverters, PLCs) Prior experience writing RFI, RFP, RFQ documents. Knowledge governing BESS standards (e.g., NEC, CEC, UL9540, NFPA 855) Possess the ability to adapt and learn new concepts and technologies quickly. P.Eng. and/or PMP considered an asset.
