Senior Accountant Locations: Guelph, ON and Milton, ON - In Office Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $75,000-$100,000 The Opportunity Envy Consulting Group is partnering with an established public accounting firm to recruit experienced Senior Accountants for its Guelph and Milton offices. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with Canadian public accounting experience who is comfortable managing year-end engagements, preparing corporate and personal tax returns, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of files from start to finish. The successful candidate will join a collaborative firm environment with exposure to a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, and individual clients. Key Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Reporting Manage year-end accounting engagements for privately held businesses Prepare compilation engagements, financial statements, working papers, and supporting schedules Review general ledgers and prepare adjusting journal entries Complete bank, credit card, payroll, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations Analyze financial information and investigate discrepancies Support month-end and year-end closing processes Complete bookkeeping clean-up and catch-up engagements when required Review bookkeeping and working papers prepared by junior team members Tax and Compliance Prepare T1 personal and T2 corporate income tax returns Prepare T3 trust returns where applicable Prepare GST/HST returns and other statutory filings Prepare corporate tax provisions and supporting schedules Identify potential tax-planning opportunities and compliance issues Review Notices of Assessment and Reassessment Assist with CRA correspondence, reviews, audits, and client inquiries Ensure engagements comply with applicable Canadian accounting and tax requirements Client and Engagement Management Act as a primary point of contact for assigned clients Gather and assess financial documentation required to complete engagements Communicate outstanding information, deadlines, and recommendations clearly Manage multiple engagements and ensure files are completed accurately and on schedule Develop trusted relationships with business owners and individual clients Provide practical accounting, tax, and business guidance Support senior leadership with complex client matters and tax-season workloads Qualifications Minimum 2 years of progressive experience within a Canadian CPA firm Strong experience preparing year-end compilation engagements and working-paper files Hands-on experience preparing Canadian T1, T2, and GST/HST returns Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax compliance requirements Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously Strong client-facing communication skills Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar accounting platforms Experience with CaseWare, CaseView, TaxPrep, Profile, or comparable tax and working-paper software Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline CPA designation or active progress toward completion is preferred Experience reviewing or mentoring junior accounting staff is an asset What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can independently take ownership of a file rather than requiring significant day-to-day oversight.
