Détails du poste
About Executive Millwork For 40+ years, Executive Millwork has been Western Canada's premier commercial millwork shop. We deliver custom architectural woodwork on commercial and high-end residential projects — hospitality, public spaces, and complex builds — and we've earned a reputation for craftsmanship, reliability, and a team that sticks around. The Role We're hiring a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement and materials management. This is a hands-on role — you'll own the full purchasing function today and help build it into a small team. You'll work closely with our Senior PMs, Operations, and the shop floor to make sure the right materials show up at the right time, at the right price. We want someone with a “sales on the buy side” mindset including proactively challenging takeoffs, hunting for better suppliers, and treating cost savings as a target rather than a hope. What you'll do • Run day-to-day purchasing: POs, supplier follow-up, expediting, delivery coordination • Source and negotiate with suppliers across sheet goods (MDF, particleboard, laminates), cabinet hardware (hinges, pulls, slides), and shop consumables (glues, adhesives, finishing) and challenge PM takeoffs when quantities look off • Sit in on project hand-off meetings to understand the long-lead and high-risk project materials • Build and maintain supplier relationships, with annual performance reviews • Manage material returns and reconcile inventory to job costing • Establish and implement inventory controls and processes, and lead a monthly inventory review • Track procurement KPIs (cost savings, supplier performance, lead times) • Stay ahead of supply chain risks; geopolitical shifts, pricing trends, single-source exposure • Establish new processes and build out SOPs to improve how procurement runs as we grow the team Nice to have • Direct millwork or cabinetry materials experience • Familiarity with INNERGY, Great Plains, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems • Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints (Bluebeam PDF Viewer) • LEAN or continuous improvement background • Experience leading or building a small team A few notes on the role • Mostly office-based, with occasional pickups (driving to grab materials when it makes sense for cost or timing) • One-person team today, scaling to two • Equipment procurement and shipping coordination are out of scope — your focus is materials and consumables What we offer • Competitive salary (open to negotiation for the right person) • Performance-based bonus • Comprehensive health and dental benefits • A real opportunity to shape and grow the procurement function and your own team • 40+ years of stability behind you • Beer Fridays, Stampede BBQs, Christmas parties — a team that likes to spend time with each other Requirements • 5+ years in procurement or purchasing, ideally in millwork, cabinetry, manufacturing, or construction • Robust purchasing experience, including a track record of establishing new processes and controls from the ground up • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you'll be drafting POs, supplier correspondence, and SOPs Nice to have • Direct millwork or cabinetry materials experience • Familiarity with INNERGY, Great Plains, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems • Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints (Bluebeam PDF Viewer) • LEAN or continuous improvement background
