Generator Technician - Denver

Journeyman/Master Electrician – Multi-State Operations Location: Houston, TX Extensive Travel Required | 24/7 On-Call Schedule About the Role We are seeking an experienced Journeyman or Master Electrician to support our multi-state field operations and emergency-response projects. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position designed for an experienced electrical professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is comfortable working in the field — not behind a desk. As a Journeyman/Master Electrician, you will respond to day-to-day service calls, property loss events, emergency-response situations, and temporary power needs throughout the United States. You will work directly on-site to assess electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, perform installations and repairs, and provide safe and reliable temporary and permanent power solutions. Because ESP performs work in multiple states and jurisdictions, this position requires an electrician who currently holds, or is qualified and willing to obtain and maintain, the electrical licenses, registrations, certifications, endorsements, or reciprocal licenses necessary to legally perform assigned electrical work in the jurisdictions where projects are located. This position operates on a 24/7 on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You’ll have the opportunity to work on unique, high-impact job sites across commercial and industrial environments while traveling throughout the country as project and emergency-response needs arise. Key Responsibilities Respond promptly to electrical service calls and deploy to job sites throughout the United States as needed Conduct initial site walks and electrical assessments to identify power requirements, hazards, damage, and necessary repairs Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, wiring, panels, circuits, disconnects, transformers, and related components Perform electrical work associated with temporary and emergency power systems, including generator connections, temporary distribution equipment, panels, transformers, and related infrastructure Perform generator tie-ins, temporary power connections, distribution setup, and electrical disconnects as permitted by applicable licensing requirements and site conditions Assist with the deployment, setup, connection, operation, monitoring, and removal of temporary power equipment at active job sites Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate repairs or corrective actions Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation Perform electrical testing and inspections to verify proper operation and identify potential hazards or deficiencies Ensure all electrical work is performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable state and local codes, permitting requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company safety standards Coordinate with local authorities, inspectors, utilities, contractors, and other trades when required Obtain or assist with electrical permits and inspections when authorized and required by the applicable jurisdiction Operate electrical testing equipment, specialized tools, and other equipment necessary to safely complete electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and manlifts when required and properly trained Document job progress through photos, reports, service documentation, inspection records, and other written documentation for internal, client, and insurance purposes Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, property owners, contractors, insurance adjusters, vendors, inspectors, and internal management Coordinate with project managers, technicians, contractors, and other trades to safely and efficiently complete projects Identify electrical hazards and implement appropriate safety measures to protect employees, customers, equipment, and property Maintain and care for company vehicles, electrical tools, testing equipment, and other company equipment to ensure operational readiness Maintain required electrical licenses, continuing education, certifications, and other credentials necessary for assigned work Participate in required training to remain current on electrical codes, safety procedures, equipment, and industry best practices Follow all health, safety, lockout/tagout, arc-flash, electrical safety, and PPE requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Current Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, or equivalent electrical license issued by a recognized state or local licensing authority required Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain additional state or local electrical licenses, registrations, reciprocal licenses, or endorsements required for work in jurisdictions where ESP operates Multi-state electrical licensing or existing licenses in multiple jurisdictions strongly preferred NASCLA Accredited Electrical Examination credential, where applicable, preferred Ability to satisfy jurisdiction-specific licensing requirements, including applications, examinations, experience verification, continuing education, background requirements, and other requirements when necessary Previous professional experience performing commercial and/or industrial electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair required Experience with generators, temporary power distribution, emergency power systems, and generator tie-ins strongly preferred Experience supporting disaster response, property restoration, construction, or other emergency-response operations is a plus Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems, wiring methods, electrical components, grounding and bonding, overcurrent protection, and safe work practices Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying equipment, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods Strong communication and customer service skills Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Availability for a 24/7 on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability and willingness to travel extensively and deploy on short notice for projects and emergency-response events Ability to remain on out-of-state assignments for extended periods when required CDL is preferred but not required OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred Additional electrical, generator, safety, heavy-equipment, or manufacturer certifications are a plus Working Conditions Work performed primarily in commercial, industrial, construction, restoration, disaster-response, and emergency-response environments Work may involve energized and de-energized electrical systems and equipment in accordance with applicable safety requirements Physical labor including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in variable weather and environmental conditions Work at heights, on ladders, or from aerial lifts may be required Exposure to active construction sites, damaged properties, industrial environments, temporary power installations, and emergency-response conditions Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to electrical safety procedures required Frequent travel, short-notice deployment, extended out-of-state assignments, and non-traditional work hours based on project and Respond to emergency service calls across the US to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and temporary power solutions. Conduct site assessments and ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code and safety standards.

Requires a current Journeyman or Master Electrician license and a high school diploma, with a willingness to obtain reciprocal licenses in multiple states. Must be available for a 24/7 on-call schedule and capable of extensive national travel.
