Responsibilities Tasks Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables Repair machine tools and parts Set up and adjust production machineries/tools Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments Experience and specialization Area of specialization Kitchen cabinets and vanities

The machinist is responsible for setting up and operating both conventional and computer-controlled machine tools to produce parts. Key duties include measuring work pieces, interpreting engineering drawings, and verifying product dimensions for accuracy.
