We recruit for both temporary and permanent positions throughout the Greater Montreal Area.</p> <strong>Mission</strong> <p>Position Summary <br> <br>Our client, a fast-growing manufacturing company specializing in custom technical projects, is looking for a Tactical / Operational Buyer to join its procurement team. <br> <br>Reporting to the Procurement Director, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions, ensuring their compliance, and issuing purchase orders. <br> <br>Key Responsibilities <br>Operational Purchasing <br>Review purchase requisitions and ensure they include all required information. <br>Identify inconsistencies or missing details and follow up with internal requesters. <br>Create and maintain supplier records, part numbers, and purchasing data in the ERP system. <br>Issue purchase orders and follow up through to delivery. <br>Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant purchasing records. <br>Collaboration & Compliance <br>Work closely with engineering, project, production, and logistics teams. <br>Challenge purchase requests when necessary and propose solutions that balance operational urgency, compliance, and risk management. <br>Clearly communicate procurement requirements to internal stakeholders. <br>Help improve the quality of purchase requisitions and procurement processes. <br>Supplier Management <br>Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, quantities, and purchasing terms. <br>Review price changes and investigate significant variances compared with previous orders. <br>Conduct occasional negotiations regarding pricing and commercial terms. <br>Build and maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers.</p> <strong>Your profile</strong> <p>Candidate Profile <br>Education & Experience <br>Education in procurement, operations management, business administration, logistics, or a related field. <br>Approximately 2 to 3 years of experience in tactical or operational purchasing, or in a similar role. <br>Experience in a manufacturing, technical, engineering, or project-based environment is considered an asset. <br>An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered. <br> <br>Technical Skills <br>Good understanding of the procurement process, from purchase requisition review through purchase order follow-up. <br>Ability to analyze requisitions and identify errors, inconsistencies, or potential risks. <br>Experience working with an ERP system; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is considered an asset. <br>Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite. <br>Knowledge of Power BI is considered an asset. <br>Strong price analysis and supplier negotiation skills. <br> <br>Soft Skills <br>Strong judgment and analytical thinking. <br>Curiosity, autonomy, and the ability to learn quickly. <br>Attention to detail and a structured approach. <br>Ability to ask the right questions and explain or justify decisions. <br>Diplomatic, assertive, and solution-oriented communication style. <br>Ability to manage priorities and urgent requests in a changing environment. <br>Strong teamwork and communication skills. <br> <br>Languages <br>Bilingual in French and English. <br> <br>Specific Requirements <br>Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. <br>Must be eligible for registration under the Controlled Goods Program. <br>Must be willing to undergo the required security and background checks.</p> <br><br>
