Daily Responsibilities: Project Name: Strategic Derivatives Program As a Business Analyst for the Strategic Derivatives Program, you will be the documentation backbone of our platform modernization initiative. Your typical day involves: · Requirements Gathering & Analysis – Collaborating with business stakeholders and project teams to understand functional and technical requirements for the new derivatives platform · Documentation Development – Creating comprehensive requirement specifications, process documentation, and technical guides that translate complex requirements into clear, actionable information · User Guides & Training Materials – Developing end-user documentation and training resources to support smooth adoption of the new system · Runbook Creation – Preparing operational procedures and step-by-step guides for system maintenance, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operations · Stakeholder Communication – Acting as a bridge between business teams and technical teams, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle · Project Support – Providing ongoing documentation and analytical support to ensure the strategic initiative stays on track Key Accountabilities: · Lead detailed requirement phases by identifying, tracking, escalating and/or resolving business systems issues · Involved in all aspects of projects, including documentation of project needs, analysis, research of needs and possible solutions, identifying technology and business solutions, gathering, documenting and updating business requirements; reviewing workflow process mapping; creating project plans; developing business testing strategies and working with project members to execute the test plan, recommending preferred solutions, and implementing recommendations · Conduct functional reviews with stakeholders, gather requirements, document business requirements and create process maps of current and future state · Identify, track and resolve business systems issues · Create or lead the development of detailed level process maps to facilitate requirements gathering, gap analysis and for training use · Manage project documentation (implementation plan, issues log, process maps, reports, FTE analysis, etc.) and resolves emerging issues at the implementation stage of the project · Contribute to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies · Seeks input from the business by facilitating sessions · Develop strategic training plan associated with introduction of new/ enhanced the business processes · Provide assistance with business user testing, when required · Develop and maintain strong relationship with business partners and internal/external team members · Provide consulting services to business partners on new initiatives · Identify issues and escalates/manages resolution as required What program/technology/software knowledge is essential for this role? Financial Services Domain Knowledge · Fund Accounting & Derivatives Expertise – Experience in financial services, particularly with fund accounting operations and/or derivatives processes, is essential. You'll leverage this knowledge to understand complex business requirements, identify process gaps, and ensure accurate documentation of the new system's capabilities against current workflows. Documentation & Requirements Management · Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) – You'll create requirement specifications, functional design documents, user guides, runbooks, and process documentation that teams will rely on during implementation and post-launch operations. Communication & Analytical Skills · Strong Writing & Presentation Abilities – You'll translate technical concepts into clear documentation and present findings to diverse stakeholder groups. Must-have Skills: · 3-5+ years as a Business Analyst – Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management, ideally within financial services or technology projects. · Financial Services Background – Experience in fund administration, derivatives trading, or related financial operations is essential to understand the business context and technical complexities of this modernization initiative. · Documentation & Process Mapping – Proven ability to create clear, comprehensive documentation including requirements specifications, process flows, user guides, and operational procedures. · Project Collaboration – Experience working cross-functionally with business teams, technical architects, developers, and operations to translate requirements into deliverables. Education & Certifications · Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent professional experience) · Derivatives or Financial Systems Knowledge (preferred) – Industry-specific certifications or demonstrated expertise in derivatives trading, fund accounting, or settlement processes Nice-to-have Skills: · Derivatives Platform Experience – Familiarity with existing or legacy derivatives systems, trading platforms, or settlement processes provides valuable context for understanding migration requirements. · Fund Administration System Knowledge – Experience with fund accounting software, NAV calculations, or portfolio management systems demonstrates deeper industry expertise. Soft Skills & Attributes · Multi-Project Management – Ability to juggle multiple concurrent documentation workstreams without losing focus or quality. · Mentoring & Training – Capacity to train business users and support teams on new system processes post-launch. · Adaptability – Comfort working in fast-paced, evolving technology environments where requirements may shift throughout the project. Domain & Industry Experience · Change Management Experience – Background in managing system implementations or organizational change initiatives. · User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Leadership – Experience designing and executing UAT plans ensures smooth system rollout. · Trading or Operations Background – Hands-on experience in derivatives trading, operations, or settlement teams provides practical insight into end-user needs.
