Overview Are you an accomplished operational executive ready to lead some of Western Canada’s most significant infrastructure projects - and shape what comes next for FlatironDragados in the region? As Vice President of Operations, Western Canada, you will hold executive accountability for the operational and financial performance of some of the largest and most complex projects in our portfolio and lead the continued growth of our business. You will lead and align high-performing teams, strengthen operational execution and position the business for sustained growth - while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and collaboration. What you will be doing Provide executive leadership across a portfolio of large and mega projects throughout Western Canada, driving safe, predictable and commercially successful delivery. Hold accountability for regional project performance, including P&L, cost, schedule, cash flow, forecasting and overall financial health. Shape the project pipeline by approving major bids and proposed work in partnership with project leadership and bid review committees. Champion an uncompromising safety culture, ensuring company standards and project-specific safety plans are consistently upheld by employees, subcontractors and partners. Build the leadership and operational capacity required for future growth, working with Human Resources to align talent, workforce planning and recruitment with current and upcoming project needs. Maintain executive oversight of project controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates, forecasts and monthly performance reporting, intervening early to address emerging operational or commercial risks. Strengthen relationships with clients, owners, community partners and other key stakeholders, supporting project leaders on critical engagement and communications matters. Provide executive direction on insurance matters, claims and dispute resolution, protecting the company’s commercial interests and supporting timely outcomes. Approve key subcontractor and supplier selections and contract awards, ensuring alignment with project requirements, commercial strategy and risk parameters. Provide senior leadership with clear, timely insight into portfolio performance, material risks and the actions required to achieve project and regional business objectives. What we are looking for 20+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction along with 15+ years’ experience managing construction teams required. A Bachelor’s Degree is considered an asset. Substantial previous operations experience working for a general contractor managing large/mega scale heavy civil projects (highways, bridges, transit, water infrastructure, etc.) and project finances. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish clear expectations and maintain alignment among direct reports and key stakeholders. Proven financial reporting and analytical capabilities, supported by strong financial and business acumen. Ability to take personal ownership of cost and contract issues, accurately identify potential claims and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Expert negotiation and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building productive relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and project participants. Strong leadership capabilities, with demonstrated success developing and mentoring talent across multiple project types and locations. Expert knowledge of complex construction means and methods. Proven knowledge of the claims process, with the ability to manage claims effectively and negotiate project issues with owners.
