About the Role: Title: Maintenance Technician Team: Maintenance Location: Fogo Island, NL (on-site) Who We Are A member of Relais & Châteaux with Three MICHELIN Keys, Fogo Island Inn is a 29-room luxury hotel, built on principles of sustainability and respect for nature and culture. The Inn is a community asset, owned by the charity Shorefast, and 100 percent of operating surpluses are reinvested into Shorefast’s work to secure a resilient future for Fogo Island. Our work has garnered significant international interest including a feature on 60 Minutes and in The New York Times’ 52 Places for a Changed World. The mission of Shorefast is to build, learn, and share economic development practices that catalyse the assets of local places, starting with Fogo Island. Learn more about us: fogoislandinn.ca The Opportunity As a Maintenance Team Member, you bring a commitment to safety and thrive by supporting team members to complete varying tasks which ensure the overall functionality of the establishment. You can assist with routine upkeep, execute minor repairs, and perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and Inn systems. This position reports to the Director, Facilities Systems & Projects, and collaborates with the team on long-term capital plans to maintain and enhance facility systems, while contributing to maintenance and construction activities beyond the Inn. What You'll Bring to the Role A proactive and reliable work style, with the flexibility to respond to evolving priorities Professional presentation and attention to personal standards that reflect our workplace culture The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, balancing guidance from leadership with self-directed problem-solving Adaptability to work in various weather conditions and willingness to participate in shift rotation to support facility coverage Enthusiasm for ongoing learning through employer-provided training, with a commitment to safety protocols A team-oriented mindset that values respect, fairness, and positive working relationships across all departments Hands-on support for technicians addressing mechanical systems and on-site challenges Strong organizational skills to maintain tools, equipment, and materials in safe, orderly condition Comfort with physical work at the Inn and surrounding sites Readiness to support seasonal needs including snow removal, salt/sand application, and water management across properties Pride in property appearance through tasks like deck maintenance, window cleaning, painting, and waste management Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as our needs evolve Ability to lift >20lbs Valid Canadian driver's license (required) QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Relevant education at the post-secondary level (degree or diploma) or equivalent experience. Experience in maintenance duties considered an asset Valid Canadian driver’s license is an essential requirement. Strong communication skills.
