Position: Lift Mechanic Apprentice Department: Lift Maintenance Reports To: Lift Maintenance Manager Position Status: Full-Time Pay Range: $21.00 - 23.00/ hour Who We Are: At Horseshoe Resort, we are a team that loves to serve people, priding ourselves on the service that our colleagues deliver to our guests. Position Summary: The Lift Mechanic Apprentice will be supporting the Lift Maintenance team who are responsible for the on-hill ski lifts that operate both in the winter season for snow sports and summer season for mountain biking. This individual will be required to have a general mechanical aptitude, physical experience working with hand tools and equipment, the ability to work in the extreme elements (cold & hot) and a comfort with working at heights (up to 40 feet). If successful, this candidate would be enrolled in the Ski Lift Mechanic Training Program (SLM-T) through the TSSA with an objective of completing the apprenticeship program to obtain the SLM license. This role is an existing vacancy. Duties & Responsibilities: * Working alongside the Lift Mechanic team to perform all opening and closing inspections of lifts and attractions * Clean, prepare and maintain lift parts for overhaul and service * Ensure all lifts are maintained to code, TSSA standards and manufacturer’s recommendations * Assist w/rope shortenings, sheave assembly rebuilds and other major projects as required * Teardown, clean, lube and re-assemble grips and carrier components as part of the program * Assist in emergency situations * Report and rectify any unsafe situation * Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment * Support the cross functional departments as needed within the Operations department and entire Resort * Perform all duties assigned by Lift Mechanic Manager Qualifications: * A general mechanical aptitude with experience working with hand and power tools * Electrical experience or a background in electrical systems is considered an asset. * Ability to work at excessive heights * Valid Driver's License * Ability to operate snowmobiles, ATV’s and 4X4 trucks in a safe and responsible manners * Must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings as needed * Previous ski industry experience is an asset * Must be able to work all weather conditions Our Commitments to You: * Supportive Experience - Our goal is to provide our guests with an exceptional experience and we are just as committed to ensuring that your experience is equally exceptional.
