Software Firmware Design Engineer

About the role The System Design Specialist (SDS) – Software/Firmware will be a member of a multi-disciplined, cross-functional design team. The SDS – Software/Firmware will receive coaching and guidance from the SDC Manager and experienced members of the Advanced Engineering Group’s management team to help acclimate him to the nature of our business, but he will be expected to use his engineering design and management experience to effectively prioritize and manage a set of responsibilities and projects. How you will make an impact Performing detailed system/subsystem design/design analysis for key customers Providing deep-dive hardware/software/firmware/dev tool support to field based Advanced Engineers and key customers Providing technical support for our suppliers New Product Introductions (NPI) Developing application notes/technical sales aids for our field teams Providing project management expertise for tasks that may be outsourced to 3rd parties or SDC counterparts around the globe We’re looking for someone with BSEE or BS Computer Engineering required, MSEE preferred Two to Five years of experience developing Linux Board Support Packages and device drivers Two to Five years of experience with C/C++ Board bring-up, using and developing Board Support Packages (for NXP’s i.MX series) Experience with microcontrollers STM32, Renesas, NXP or others 3-8 years of progressive embedded system design experience in at least two of the following fields (in relation with job specialization): 8/16 bit microcontroller hardware/firmware design 32 bit/ARM MCU/MPU hardware/firmware design Embedded Software/Firmware design Why join us Our approach to employee wellness is holistic, which is why alongside competitive salaries, and excellent health and dental benefits, corporate employees have access to the following: Wellness amenities such as an onsite gym, fitness studio, and employee lounge Group RRSP plan to take care of the future you Onsite medical clinic and telemedicine Daily shuttle bus from two downtown locations Subsidized employee café with delicious meals and snacks Future Electronics is taking a hybrid approach to work. The Software Firmware Design Engineer will perform detailed system and subsystem design analysis for key customers and provide technical support for suppliers. They will also develop application notes and provide project management expertise for outsourced tasks.

Candidates should have a BSEE or BS in Computer Engineering, with MSEE preferred, and 2-5 years of experience in developing Linux Board Support Packages and device drivers. Experience with microcontrollers and embedded system design is also required.
