Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Java Backend Developer, based in Mississauga, ON, with some flexibility to work from home. The Java Backend Developer will design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and services using Java and related frameworks. Responsibilities include implementing and optimizing microservices, integrating APIs, and ensuring scalability, performance, and security of backend systems. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, writing clean and testable code, performing code reviews, and troubleshooting production issues. The developer will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts, participate in agile ceremonies, and support deployment and maintenance activities. Qualifications Strong software development skills, including experience with backend architecture, design patterns, and RESTful services. Hands-on experience with Java and core programming concepts, including object-oriented design and data structures. Practical knowledge of microservices design and implementation, including service orchestration and inter-service communication. Proficiency with the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) for building enterprise-grade applications. Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases, SQL, and performance optimization. Experience with version control (Git), build tools (Maven/Gradle), and CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and collaborate in agile teams.
