Business Unit: Security Services Career Area: Security Guard Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, CA Ready to suit up as a Response Security Guard What matters most in this role is your ability to read your surroundings, recognize potential risks, and respond appropriately. Strong observation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to interact confidently with people are essential. You will work in an active environment where you may spend most of your shift on your feet. You will conduct patrols, respond to incidents, monitor for potential threats, and take appropriate action when required. The ideal candidate is physically capable, alert, confident, and able to remain calm under pressure. Whether working in a retail environment, security facility, or other public setting, you will be expected to maintain a professional presence and communicate effectively with customers, employees, visitors, and your team. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys an active, hands-on security role and is comfortable making decisions in changing situations. What's in it for you? Conduct regular foot patrols of critical and assigned areas to identify suspicious activity or safety concerns Monitor security systems, including alarms and cameras, and ensure they are functioning properly Verify identification and control access to restricted or secure areas Respond promptly to alarms, threats, and security incidents Conduct on-site checks following alarms or reported concerns Document incidents, actions taken, and observations through clear and accurate reports Exercise sound judgment and decisiveness under pressure Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors using two-way radios and other communication equipment Coordinate with law enforcement during serious incidents or emergencies Maintain a professional and visible security presence at all times Qualifications Response For Security Guard Legally authorized to work in Canada Ability to Obtain a Valid Security Guard Licence Valid First Aid Certification (required) Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift Strong observation and attention-to-detail skills Ability to remain alert and make sound decisions during incidents Professional communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and follow site procedures Schedule Continental 4-On / 4-Off Schedule 4 consecutive shifts followed by 4 consecutive days off 12-hour shifts Must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays About The Opportunity This posting is for a current vacant position within the organization. Exigences
