Position Overview Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking to add a Structural Engineer with experience in Mining and Heavy Industry on a contract basis. Key Responsibilities The ideal candidate will be able to: Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects Review and design of structures, building envelope systems, and structural components while adhering to established guidelines and client specifications Concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs Detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with design team to produce 3D models and associated documentation Member sizing with supporting calcuations Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget to ensure projects are completed to specification Provide cost estimating review and assistance Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications Provide coordination with various departments and disciplines as required for project implementation, mine design, and inspection Ability and willingness to travel for site visits Ability to present project designs and concepts to clients Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders Qualifications + Experience Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering, from an accredited university Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada 8+ years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects Familiar with structural analysis software like BIM, Advanced Steel and RISA (Revit is an asset) Familiar with greenfield and brownfield mining projects Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
