We are currently seeking Security Guards based in or willing to work out of Prince George and surrounding areas for deployment-based projects. Wage & Compensation * Starting wage: $20/hour * Overtime paid in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act * Time-and-a-half or double time where applicable Hours of Work * Typical shifts are 12 hours per day * Contracts vary depending on project requirements * Deployments may last up to 21 days * Extensions may be available when standby days are required and agreed upon by the employee * Scheduling within deployments may vary Employee Benefits * Extended health and dental benefits (after probationary period) * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) * Company-provided PPE * Company-provided training * Opportunity for cross-training * Flexible scheduling based on availability Position Responsibilities Every contract and deployment is unique, and site-specific instructions will be provided. In general, Security Guards are responsible for observing, reporting, and deterring potential security risks. Duties Include: * Observe and report suspicious activity * Document activities and incidents within SiteDocs * Respond to incident and emergency situations while following established protocols * Provide perimeter security coverage * Secure exits, doors, and windows * Patrol designated areas, equipment, and facilities * Accept and track radio check-ins * Respond to alarms * Maintain a visible security presence to deter unauthorized persons * Escort individuals to vehicles and accommodations when required * Coordinate and liaise with police or emergency personnel when necessary * Complete daily documentation, reporting, and forms in SiteDocs * Follow all Gitxsan Safety Services policies and procedures Qualifications & Requirements * Valid Driver’s Licence with a clean Driver’s Abstract * Physically capable of standing, walking, or conducting driving patrols for extended periods * Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Comfortable using technology such as smartphones, iPads, or tablets * Assertive with strong judgment and a calm demeanour Assets Considered Valuable * Leadership or supervisory experience * Previous security experience * OFA1 certification * Successful completion of online training required by project assignments Why Join GSS?
