Résumé du poste

About the Company Golden City Supply Ltd. is a Calgary building materials supplier serving professional contractors and homeowners. Our product range spans roofing, siding, lumber, drywall, insulation, cabinets, and hardware — supplying everything from full jobsite orders for trades to individual purchases for homeowners. We are expanding into a larger facility and building toward a warehouse-retail format serving both trade and retail customers. The Role We are looking for an experienced purchasing professional to take ownership of procurement across our full product range — someone ambitious, who wants a role with room to grow rather than a fixed set of tasks. This position works closely with ownership on sourcing decisions and plays an important part in managing company margin. As the business scales, so does the role. The right candidate knows the products, recognizes when a quote is genuinely competitive, and manages vendor relationships with discipline. Key Responsibilities Sourcing and vendor management Source and evaluate quotes across a broad supplier base Maintain our cost model — vendor pricing, freight terms, competitor benchmarks, and landed cost by SKU Monitor price movement over time to support data-driven purchasing decisions Develop vendor relationships and negotiate favourable commercial terms Cost and margin management Reconcile rebate programs and verify accruals against amounts received Audit vendor invoices against contracted pricing Identify margin erosion and recommend corrective pricing action Purchasing and inventory Issue purchase orders within defined authority limits Manage reorder points and inventory levels to balance availability against carrying cost Coordinate inbound logistics and resolve shortages, damages, and backorders Maintain inventory accuracy through our facility expansion Qualifications Required Working knowledge of building materials. You understand units, coverage, and product application, and you can identify when a substitution is unsuitable for the job. This is the single most important qualification for this role. 2+ years in purchasing, buying, inside sales, counter sales, or distribution within building supply, roofing distribution, lumber, cabinets, or hardware Competence in Excel — accurate data entry, comparative analysis, and sound reasoning on landed cost Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with vendor representatives Organized and self-directed, capable of operating with limited supervision Legally entitled to work in Canada Preferred Experience with buying group or co-operative rebate structures What We Offer Competitive compensation with a performance review at three months Direct reporting line to ownership and a short decision-making chain Meaningful ownership of the procurement function A clear path to Purchasing Manager as the business scales into large-format operations Stable weekday hours Application Please submit your resume to johnny@goldencitysupply.com with "Buyer" in the subject line.
