OUR OPPORTUNITY We're looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Toronto team. As the Health & Safety Coordinator, you will execute all H&S policies, programs, and processes on assigned construction sites. Leveraging and maintaining successful relationships, you will work collaboratively with our site management team and utilize strong knowledge of construction safety to advance Govan Brown's robust safety culture. This position is based on active construction sites. Your responsibilities will include: Oversee the Health & Safety on assigned project construction sites Coordinate and conduct site safety orientations for all subcontractors, weekly toolbox meetings, site safety inspections. Conduct regular site safety inspections and create related reports Monitor the performance of all site trades and ensure they are working in a safe manner, utilizing the proper protective equipment and practices Investigate all injuries, accidents and near misses and identify the causes and recommend required improvements in safety standards Complete all accident/incident reports in a timely manner - including WSIB and OH&S forms etc. and ensure accidents are properly reported to all appropriate parties Actively participate as a member of Joint health and safety committees and/or worker trade committees. Assist subcontractors with site-specific Methods of Procedure (MOP) Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and enforce Occupational Health & Safety regulations and practices Act as a liaison with all stakeholders, including the government, WSIB, management, subcontractors, clients and workers regarding aspects of health and safety WHAT YOU BRING 3+ years working with a general contractor or construction management company leading health & safety on commercial construction sites Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety NCSO certification or working towards is an asset WSIB certified committee member Standard First Aid with CPR A + AED Computer proficiency in MS Office including MS Outlook Proficiency with safety documentation software, such as SiteDocs, is a strong asset. Valid class G driver's license and reliable vehicle required for site visits Up to date on Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulations Strong leadership skills to effectively hold others accountable for working in a safe manner Relationship savvy and interpersonal skills to demand the respect of all stakeholders Commitment to recognizing and mitigating risks Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills Highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks YOUR ESTIMATED SALARY This role offers an annual salary between $60,000 and $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with final compensation thoughtfully tailored in the offer stage. YOUR WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT This position is based on construction work sites with exposure to all seasons. This is not a hybrid or remote role.
