Are you an experienced geoscientist looking to lead research that shapes responsible resource development in the Northwest Territories? The Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS) is seeking two experienced managers to provide scientific leadership for territorial geoscience programs. Depending on your background and interests, you will lead either Mineral Deposits or Mapping and Collections programs, guiding multidisciplinary teams that deliver high-quality scientific research, data, and expertise supporting mineral exploration, land-use planning, environmental assessment, and regulatory decision-making across the Northwest Territories. In this role you will: Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering geoscience research and field programs. Develop and manage scientific projects, budgets, partnerships, and external funding. Provide expert scientific advice supporting mineral exploration, land-use planning, environmental assessment, and regulatory decision-making. Oversee the production and public release of high-quality geoscience data, maps, publications, and information products. Build partnerships with Indigenous governments, industry, academia, other geological surveys, and government organizations. Mentor professional staff while promoting scientific excellence, collaboration, and safe field operations. We're looking for candidates with experience in: Geoscience research, geological mapping, or mineral deposit studies. Leading scientific projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams. Building partnerships with governments, industry, Indigenous organizations, or research institutions. Scientific writing, data interpretation, and technical communication. Providing expert advice to support policy, planning, regulatory, or resource management decisions. Education A graduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred) in an Earth Sciences discipline such as: Geology Economic Geology Geological Sciences Earth Sciences Geoscience Mineral Exploration Geochemistry Geophysics Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered.
