An eligibility list may be created to fill current and future vacancies across the department in all communities. Reporting to the Conservation Officer III (CO III), the Conservation Officer II (CO II) is responsible for delivering wildlife management, environmental protection, and renewable resource programs while enforcing territorial and federal legislation in accordance with the Nunavut Agreement. Working closely with the Hunters and Trappers Organizations (HTOs), harvesters, communities, and partner agencies, the CO II promotes conservation, public education, and responsible resource management that supports Nunavut’s mixed and traditional economy. Through strong relationships, effective enforcement, and community engagement, this role helps ensure the sustainable use of wildlife and natural resources for current and future generations. Department of Environment The Department of Environment is responsible for program areas such as Wildlife Management, Parks and Special Places, Environmental Protection and fisheries and sealing. This department provides education and outreach to a wide range of audiences including youth, community members, elders and teachers to ensure the Inuit societal value of Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq (environmental stewardship).

The Conservation Officer II delivers wildlife management, environmental protection, and renewable resource programs while enforcing territorial and federal legislation. They work closely with local organizations and harvesters to promote conservation and sustainable resource use.

Candidates must hold a college diploma in Environmental Conservation, Renewable Resources Management, or a related field and possess a valid Class 5 driver's licence. Applicants must also be eligible to obtain a Small Vessel Operator Proficiency certificate and a Firearms Possession and Acquisition License.
