Working in a team environment our Billing Coordinator will perform a variety of clerical and accounting tasks, following standardized billing policies and procedures. The successful candidate will bring excellent attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, and professionalism to the role. This role can be based in any of our Canadian offices! RESPONSIBILITIES * Prepare pre-bills and bills, obtain copies of bills upon request, and make corrections to time entries and fee allocations where necessary; * Ensure compliance with client guidelines, required bill format, and content; * Maintain billing progress reports throughout the month; * Accurate data entry, correct errors and proofread, checking style and authorization when required; * Be available to answer questions and provide support to assistants and professionals regarding the billing process; * Liaise with internal and external clients to address any issues, answer queries, and interpret policies and procedures; * Provide, prepare and format reports in MS Excel; * Participate in office/firm related training sessions, and innovation initiatives; * Complete administrative duties including but not limited to filing, copying, and correspondence; * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * Three to five years of billing experience with preference given to experience in a law firm environment; * Bilingualism (verbal/written) in English/French; * Strong working knowledge of basic accounting principles; * Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; * Experience with Aderant and Expert Billing is an asset; * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; * Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to set priorities while dealing with conflicting and emerging priorities; * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, professionals, and in a team environment; * Strong knowledge of accounting software and bank procedures; * Excellent attention to detail; * Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment; * Ability to work flexible hours as workload requires including some evenings and weekends. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance. This position is currently vacant and is open to both internal and external candidates.
