Job Summary Perform maintenance and repair on small engines and related equipment across a range of applications. Diagnose faults, complete repairs and routine servicing to ensure safe, reliable equipment operation. Number of Positions 3 Main Duties Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on small engines, power equipment and portable machinery. Perform routine maintenance including tune-ups, oil and filter changes, spark plug service, and lubrication. Repair or replace defective components such as carburetors, ignition systems, starters, fuel systems, belts and bearings. Use hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment to test engines and assemblies and complete repairs. Maintain parts inventory, order replacement parts and keep accurate service and repair records. Advise customers or equipment operators on proper operation, preventive maintenance and safety procedures. Requirements Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a post-secondary certificate, trade program or apprenticeship in small engine repair, mechanical technology or a related field is an asset. Practical experience repairing and maintaining small gasoline or diesel engines and outdoor power equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, parts diagrams and service procedures. Good physical condition and manual dexterity with ability to lift and handle engines and components. Basic computer skills for logging work orders, parts lookup and communicating with customers or vendors. Required Skills Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic reasoning. Proficient use of hand and power tools and engine diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of fuel, ignition and lubrication systems for small engines. Ability to read schematics, service manuals and parts diagrams. Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures. Good communication and customer service skills.
