We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated *Accountant* to join our Finance team in Truro, Nova Scotia. If you're looking to build your career with a well-established organization that values collaboration, continuous learning, and team work, we'd love to hear from you. *Position Summary* The Accountant is responsible for managing full-cycle accounting activities for a portfolio of franchisee and corporate entities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role supports daily finance operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end processes, and special projects that contribute to the organization's overall financial success. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, resourceful, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality. *Key Responsibilities* This position will require you to: * Perform full-cycle accounting functions for multiple corporate and franchise-related entities. * Prepare and process journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions. * Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. * Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations. * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules. * Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. * Analyze financial information and investigate discrepancies. * Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. * Prepare franchise royalty and other operational reports as required. * Assist with audit preparations and year-end working papers. * Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies. * Support special projects and process improvement initiatives within the Finance department. * Provide financial support to franchise operations and other internal stakeholders. * Keep information confidential and secure. *Skills/Qualifications* * Post secondary education with preference to a degree or diploma in accounting and/or work experience as an accountant with a full cycle corporate entity. * Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. * Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong attention to detail, high level of integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality. * Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively. * Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and procedures *What we offer* * Competitive Salary Company benefits include: * Health and dental plan * Company matched pension program * Bonus program * Paid time off * Flexible and fun working environment * Opportunity for growth and advancement Be part of our exciting team in a fun fast-paced environment that grows our winning brands.
