Role Description The Head Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC, overseeing the technical operations of the service department. This role includes diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, performing and supervising repairs, and ensuring all work meets manufacturer and safety standards. The Head Technician coordinates and mentors the technician team, assigns work orders, and supports continuous skills development and adherence to best practices. Daily responsibilities also include collaborating with service advisors, maintaining accurate repair documentation, optimizing workflow to meet service deadlines, and promoting a culture of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications Strong automotive technical expertise in diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and electrical systems. Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools, service software, and manufacturer technical documentation. Experience leading, coaching, and coordinating a team of technicians in a fast-paced service environment. Knowledge of safety regulations, quality control standards, and best practices in automotive service. Effective communication skills for working with service advisors, colleagues, and customers. Recognized automotive technician certification or license; additional manufacturer training is an asset. Several years of experience in an automotive service department, including senior or lead technician responsibilities. Ability to prioritize multiple work orders, maintain attention to detail, and meet time and quality targets. Comfort working on a range of vehicle types, including luxury, performance, and energy-efficient models. Basic computer skills for work order management, reporting, and accessing technical information.
