Job Description The Opportunity This is a senior-level operational position designed for an experienced professional with strong technical expertise in both drinking water and wastewater systems. We are seeking a dependable senior operator to provide oversight across Aquatech’s Southwestern Ontario operations. This individual will help keep eyes on the region, support less experienced operators, attend sites as required, and ensure operations remain safe, compliant, reliable, and well-supported across a broad service area. Key Responsibilities Provide senior operational oversight for water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, and collection systems across Southwestern Ontario operations Support and guide less experienced operators through technical direction, mentorship, site checks, and operational follow-up Monitor treatment processes and make operational adjustments to optimize performance Travel to sites across the region as required to inspect facilities, verify operating conditions, troubleshoot issues, and support field staff Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process issues Complete operational records and regulatory reporting requirements Monitor and respond to SCADA alarms and notifications Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response activities Provide mentorship and technical support to junior operators Provide operational support to other Aquatech operating areas when required and where practical based on geography and business needs Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of progressive operational experience in both drinking water and wastewater systems, with senior-level experience preferred Demonstrated experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements Experience with compliance monitoring, process control, laboratory interpretation, and operational reporting Strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently across a large geographic region while maintaining communication with operations leadership and site staff Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence Entry-level candidates with no prior operating experience will not be considered for this position. Required Certifications Valid Ontario Wastewater Operator Certification. Valid Ontario Drinking Water Operator Certification (OIT, LSW, Level I, or higher). LSW and OIT licences are acceptable for the water systems currently operated under this role. Aquatech places significant value on demonstrated operational experience in both water and wastewater systems.
